Now over the initial shock and disappointment of the recent Vampire Knight chapter, I’ve come to discuss with you something. It’s in the very nature of Hino to pull her readers along by a thread and lead them on. We all know it.
Anyway, my point is anything, anyone could end up with anybody at this point. Hino has made the playing field entirely level with her choice of dialogue.
Yuuki: Why did you stop living together with me?
Kaname: …The person I love…
Kaname: You aren’t smiling from your heart…
Hino makes it clear by this dialogue that Yuki is clearly not happy with the current situation and that her love for Kaname is still something to question. Yuki says herself that it’d be better to erase her memories of Zero then to continue remembering him. This is where Kaname’s words, “You aren’t smiling from you heart” become especially important.
I believe Kaname knows that Yuki loves Zero in a romantic way, but he also knows (or believes) he has to prove it to her. This is why I believe Hino draws the sex scene between Kaname and Yuki.
The sex that happens between Kaname and Yuki isn’t real. There is plenty of love involved in the action, but it isn’t the romantic kind it’s made out to be. It’s the sad kind of love that’s meant to prove a point. It isn’t making love, it’s having sex.
This is why I believe Hino drew the scene as she did. It wasn’t important because it was simply having sex to make a point and nothing more. If Hino had really intended for this to be a love making scene between two of her main characters, she would have made the scene a lot more special.
Kaname: If you don’t know where your heart’s destination is… I’ll tell you, Yuuki. If you’re okay with someone like me…
I think what Kaname is implying here is that he’ll show Yuki who she really loves, but then he’s asking her “if you’re okay with someone like me”. There’s an implied “If you’re okay with having sex with someone like me.” implied. That’s what that means.
I feel bad for Yume supporters.
I feel bad for Zeki supporters.
This wasn’t a win for either side, but was instead Hino’s terrible attempt to keep her readers and up her ratings. Everyone is sad right now, just Zero and Yuki supporters especially. Everyone understands why too.
Right now I think we all need to support each other. This is our chance to be brought together and show that we really don’t hate each other and that shipping Yume or Zeki doesn’t matter to us. What matters is Vampire Knight’s plot, and Hino messed it up big time with this.
I’m not sure if I’ll write much until the next chapter release, so until then expect few updates. But who knows.
Hold your heads up high, Zekis. -smiles somberly-
As I said before, we’ve been through hell and back many times.
There’s no reason we can do it again.
-a small hope rises inside Zekiship Captain’s chest-
If some of you Zero and Yuki shippers have lost hope, don’t worry. As Zekiship Captain I’ll hope for all of you. I’ll carry this burden with you. Let the heavy weight fall on my shoulders. I’ll support you all. Come on, believe with me, Zekis!
I BELIEVE! THERE IS STILL HOPE!
